“Through the art of storytelling, we aim to promote
core educational skills among young readers and early learners.”
Boum Books through its publications, social enterprise and engagement with the local partners in the area of education aims to cultivate early love for reading and writing among Afghan children and support their growth and cognitive skills development through storytelling and play.
Boum publishes stories featuring Afghan storytellers, illustrators, education content developers and many other experts in the area to develop stories for children in language of their own, geared to support children’s basic and foundational education skills like reading, writing and numeracy. These core education skills are wrapped in entertaining, interactive and stimulating stories that make it fun and intriguing to learn and grow. Boum acknowledges the resource scarcity in the education sector and literacy limitation of parents, therefore, stories are created relying on learning from the living environment of the children within their homes, villages and schools or education centers with minimum inputs.
To further maximize on time with children, we work with partners that use Boum supplementary education material for the story books in their programs in libraries, community classes, formal schools and safe spaces for children and young learners. We aim to assist our partners in making learning an interactive process and fun entercourse for the young and early learners.
We reach children in farthest, most remote and inaccessible corners of the country. Either through our volunteers or partner organizations. Children of all ages and girls and women of literacy program benefit from content and storybooks we develop.
Our expected results are simple. Write stories for children to cultivate early love for reading and learning. Also, make learning fun through storytelling and contribute to improvement of reading, writing and numeracy skills in young learners and consequentially endow them with the core foundational skills to further their education.
