School Bag distribution
Nimruz / April 2016
With 84% population living in rural areas, Nimruz is one of the most removed provinces of the country. Yet, more girls go to school (primary and secondary) compared to national average and female participation rate in education is 20% compared to 18.5 nationally. In primary schools there are more girls in school than boys. This is encouraging and inspiring in the face of many socio-economic difficulties average families encounter in rural households.
We launched the School Bag Campaign I in the province to further strengthen those accomplishments. The campaign supplies school bags and stationery to children of primary school age. The socio-economic realities make school supplies the last priorities of families in Nimruz. Therefore, our campaign supports the families as well as children in their pursuit of education.
In partnership with Mashom Foundation led by young activist Gul Baluch, we reached 3000 children in 13 villages of Chakhansur, Char Burjak districts and the capital city of Zaraj. Through support from our donors and volunteers, we were able to distribute 3000 school bags with supplies to the children of remote districts who barely have minimum access to the very modest requirements of a proper educational experience. Thank you for your generosity in supporting this campaign.

Going forward, we very much appreciate the hard work of our teams around the world and most importantly those in the country volunteering under extremely tough circumstances. We are committed to promoting education for young children to build a more resilient and stable Afghanistan, both at professional and personal level.
Thank you all for making this happen. We are committed to continuing the School Bag Campaign annually, targeting one province per year.
